Our Breeding Program
We raise our reindeer as pets; they are not for consumption. We are members of the Reindeer Owners and Breeders Association (ROBA) as well as the Reindeer Farmers Association (RFA). We enjoy and appreciate working with other breeders in North America.
Spring is always exciting for us - baby reindeer calf arrival time! If you are interested in purchasing reindeer calves, please contact Chris directly at 970-566-1839. It's important to note that reindeer are highly sought after, so we work on a "first come - first serve" basis. Chris will share his knowledge, point you to other resources and help you decide if reindeer are the right fit for you. Here are a couple of important facts to consider before purchasing reindeer:
-
Reindeer are a long-term commitment.
-
Reindeer are regulated – state and federal laws exist to protect them as pets
-
Reindeer need acreage, tall fences and proper shelter
Do your research because some states do not allow you to have reindeer. Here is where you can start:
-
Check with your state Department of Agriculture as well as the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
-
What are your state laws regarding Cervids (that’s fancy for mammal of the deer family)?
-
Does your state have a Chronic Wasting Disease program?
